Answer:

X = 21

Step-by-step explanation:

In a class, 60% of the total number of students are boys and there are 14 girls. How many students are there in the class?

The best way to answer is to write the Given Data first neatly. You can follow the steps that i usually follow while solving such problems which make many things easy. Also this applies only to solutions which are directly proportionate and not inversely proportionate.

60% = x ( number of boys)

40% ( which is 100%-60% ) = 14 ( number of girls)

Cross Multiply

x = (60 x 14) / 40

x = 21.

Hence the number of boys are 21. So the total number of students are : 21 + 14 = 35.

Hope it helps :)

As per the data given in the question,

In the above question, it is given that,

The given the total students are 6000

60% are boys and 40% are girls

 Here we have to find the the numbers of boys and girl.

We have to use the multiplication of ration of boys and girls to get the value.

Thus,

The total number of boys in the school is,

=\frac{6000\times 60}{100}

=3600

The number of boys is 3600.

The total numbers of girls in the school is,

=\frac{6000\times 40}{100} \\=2400

Hence the numbers of boys and girls is 3600 and 2400.
