Step-by-step explanation:

the total number of students who appeared for the exam in school X=40

the number of students who passed in school X=36

pass percentage of school X=36/40*100%=90%

the total number of students who appeared for the exam in school Y=30

the number of students who passed in school Y=24

pass percentage of school Y=24/30*100%=80%

So,the pass percentage of school X is greater than the pass percentage of school Y.

So, the district education officer gives award to school X.
