Given,

In a series RC circuit,

AC supply =220V.

Resistance, R=20ohm.

Capacitance, c=0.6μF.

Frequency, f=50Hz.

To find,

Impedance of the  circuit, Z.

Solution,

We know that,

Impedance of a series RC circuit is calculated by,

Z=\sqrt{R^{2}+X_{c}^{2}}

Where,

X_{c}=\frac{1}{2\pi fc}

And,

c=0.6×10^{-6}F

c=6×10^{-5}F

So,

X_{c}=\frac{1}{(2)(3.14)(50)(6*10^{-5})}

X_{c}=\frac{1}{(314)(6)(10^{-5})}

X_{c}=\frac{1}{1884*10^{-5}}

X_{c}=\frac{100000}{1884}

X_{c}=53.07ohm

So,

Impedance will be,

Z=\sqrt{(20)^{2}+(53.07)^{2}}
Z=\sqrt{400+2816.42}

Z=\sqrt{3216.42}

Z=56.71ohm.

Therefore, impedance of the given RC circuit is 56.71ohm.
