Step-by-step explanation:

The difference between the sum of four consecutive odd numbers and three consecutive even numbers together is 20. Also, the largest even number is 5 more than the largest odd number. What is the sum of the smallest odd number and the smallest even number ?

A) 75

B) 77

C) 85

D) Cannot be determined

Correct Answer:

B) 77

Description for Correct answer:

Let the consecutive odd numbers be:

x, x+2, x+4 and x+6

∴ Largest even number = x+11 and other even numbers

= x+7 and x+9

∴ x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 -(x + 7+ x + 9 + x + 11 )=20

=>x - 15 =20

=>x =15 + 20 =35

∴ Required sum = x + x + 7

=2x + 7 = 2×35+7=77
