Average of the 2 smallest = 2

Sum of the 2 smallest = 2 x 2 = 4

.

Average of the 3 smallest = 3

Sum of the 3 smallest = 3 x 3 = 9

.

Third number = 9 - 4 = 5

.

Average of the 4 smallest = 4

Sum of the 4 smallest = 4 x 4 = 16

.

fourth number = 16 - 9 = 5

.

Average of the 5 numbers = 5

Sum of the 5 numbers = 5 x 5 = 25

.

Fifth number = 25 - 16 = 9

.

Summary:

1st and 2nd number = sum of 4

3rd number = 5

4th number = 5

5th number = 9

.

Answer : The largest number in the set is 9.
