In a square abcd, if cd= 8 cm, find the diagonal of the square?

Answer:

one side of square is given 8cm

so all its sides become 8 cm

now if join the diagonal of the square,it forms a right triangle, therefore we can apply Pythagoras theorem,

h^2=p^2+b^2

BD^2=8^2+8^2

BD^2=64+64

BD^2= (8√2)^2

BD=8√2 cm

or BD = 8×1.414cm

BD=11.312cm (approx)

there is an alternative method for this

use the formula diagonal of square =✓2×side

=√2×8

8√2cm
