Given,

In a square PQRS;

PQ=(5a-17) cm

QR=(2a+4) cm

To find,

The length of side PS.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem using the following process:

As per mensuration,

All the sides of any square are equal in length.

Now, in the square PQRS;

Side PQ = side QR = side RS = side PS = (5a-17) cm = (2a+4) cm {Equation-1}

=> (5a-17) cm = (2a+4) cm

=> 3a = 21

=> a = 7

Substituting the value of a in equation-1, we get

Side PQ = side QR = side RS = side PS

= (2a+4) cm

= 2(7) + 4 cm

= 18 centimeters = 18 cm

Hence, the length of side PS is equal to 18 centimeters.
