in a step up transformer which coil is more heavily insulated the secondary coil because step up transformer for improve the power.the step up transformer use in power suply between two city or district.

riyalguha: Primary coil carries low voltage so it has high current this is why it is thicker. And secondary coil carries high voltage therefore low current.
