Let the total no. of votes polled = y
Difference between winner's and loser's votes=14400
Loser: 42%of y
winner: 58% of y
Therefore, 58%y - 42%y= 14400
16%y= 14400
y=90000
Thus if total votes polled is 90000, but total no. of eligible voters is 100000, that means no. of people who did not vote= 100000-90000= 10000.
Percentage of voters who did not vote = 10000/100000 * 100=10%
Ans. = 10%
