Given:

  • In a superheterodyne receiver, IF=455kHz
  • It is tuned to 1200 kHz

To find:

  • Image frequency

Solution:

  • Any signal is capable of interfering with superheterodyne receiver if,
  • Image frequency = Tuned Signal ± 2×I.F
  • Tuned frequency = 1200 kHz and IF=455 kHz is given.
  • ∴ Image frequency = 1200 ± 910
  • Hence, Image frequency = 2110 kHz or 290 kHz.
  • On verifying with options we can find that 2110 kHz matches with our answer.

Answer:

  • The image frequency will be (c) 2110 kHz
