Question :- In a survary 100 people,60 like farming and 65 likes civil service. find the number of people who likes farming as well as civil service ?

Answer :-

Total People = 100 = n (F ∪ S)

→ People who likes farming = 60 = n(F)

→ People who likes service = 65 = n(S)

→ People who likes Both = n (F ∩ S) = ?

we know that :-

☛ n(A ∪ B) = n(A) + n (B) - n (A ∩ B)

Putting values we get,

100 = 60 + 65 - n (F ∩ S)

→ n (F ∩ S) = 125 - 100

→ n (F ∩ S) = 25 (Ans.)

Hence, 25 people likes farming as well as civil service.
