Given :- In a survey 5000 peron. It was found that 2800 read indian Express and 2300 read time of india and 400 read both. How many read neither in the Express nor times of India ?

Solution :-

  • Total population (n) = 5000
  • Number of people indian express [n(E)] = 2800
  • Number of people reading Times of India [n(T)] = 2300

So,

→ Number of people reading both = [n(E ∩ T)] = 400

then,

→ Number of people reading any of the newspaper = [n(E ∪ T)] = n(E) + n(T) - n(E ∩ T) = 2800 + 2300 - 400 = 4700.

therefore,

→ Number of people reading none of them is equal to = Total population - Number of people reading any of the newspaper = 5000 - 4700 = 300 (Ans.)
