Step-by-step explanation:

as we know

AUB = N(A) + N(B) - N(A intersection B)

= 180+120-250

Concept

Venn diagram is a diagram that is used to show the relationship between two or more groups.

Given

in a survey conducted of 250 people, 180 like farming, 120 like civil service

Find

we need to find the people who like farming as well as civil service and also only civil service.

Solution

We have

Total number of people = 250

⇒ a + b + c = 250 (a, b and c are as marked in the diagram)

People who like farming = 180

⇒ a + c = 180

Substituting this in previous equation,

180 + b = 250

b = 70

Now, number of people who like civil service = 120

⇒ b + c = 120

c = 120 - 70

c = 50

Thus, the number of people who like both civil service and farming are 50 and the number of people who like only civil service are 70.
