Solution -

In a survey of a market , it is found that 143 people use white toothpaste , 135 people use red tooth paste. If 70 people use both the types of tooth paste, find the number of people who atleast use one type of toothpaste .

People using white toothpaste - 143

People using red toothpaste - 135

People using both types of tooth paste - 70

Total number of people using atleast one type of toothpaste :

>> P_White + P_Red - P_INC

>> 143 + 135 - 70

>> 208

Answer : 108 people use atleast one type of toothpaste.

Finding the no. of people using 1 toothpaste :

{:\longmapsto{\sf{ Toothpaste{\small_{(Red)}} + Toothpaste{\small_{(White)}} - Toothpaste{\small{(Both)}} = {\green{\sf{Toothpaste{\small{(1\:type)}}}}}}}}

{:\longmapsto{\sf{ 135 + 143 - 70 = {\green{\sf{Toothpaste{\small{(1\:type)}}}}}}}}

{:\longmapsto{\sf{ 278- 70 = {\green{\sf{Toothpaste{\small{(1\:type)}}}}}}}}

{:\longmapsto{\sf{ 278- 70 }}}

\red{:\longmapsto{\orange{\underline{\overline{\boxed{\sf{208}}}}}}}

\qquad{━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━}

Therefore :

208 people use 1 type of toothpaste .
