Given : 64 had taken mathematics course,

94 had taken chemistry course,

58 had taken physics course,

28 had taken mathematics and physics,

26 had taken mathematics and chemistry,

22 had taken chemistry and physics course,

14 had taken all the three courses

To Find : how many had taken one course only

Solution:

M  = 64

C = 94

P = 58

M ∩ P = 28

M ∩ C = 26

C ∩ P = 22

M ∩ P ∩ C = 14

Maths only  =  M - M ∩ P - M ∩ C + M ∩ P ∩ C

= 64 - 28 - 26 + 14

= 24

Physics only  =  P - M ∩ P - P ∩ C + M ∩ P ∩ C

= 58 - 28 - 22 + 14

= 22

Chemistry  only  = C - M ∩ C - P ∩ C + M ∩ P ∩ C

= 94 - 26 - 22 + 14

= 60

taken one course only  = 24 + 22 + 60  = 106
