Given info : In a system of units, the unit of mass is 1000 kg , unit of length is 10 km and unit of time is 1 minute.

To find : 1 joule in this system is equal to ...

solution : we know, unit of 1 joule is 1 kgm²/s²

so, the formula to find the unit of 1 joule in new system would be,

                                     n₂ = n₁ [M₁/M₂][L₁/L₂]²[T₁/T₂]⁻²

here, n₁ = 1 , M₁ = 1kg , M₂ = 1000 kg , L₁ = 1m, L₂ = 10 km = 10000 m

T₁ = 1s and T₂ = 1 min = 60 s

∴ n₂ = 1 [1/1000][1/10000]²[1/60]⁻² = 3.6 × 10⁻⁸ units

therefore the 1 joule in the new system would be 3.6 × 10⁻⁸ units
