In a test, Calvin secured 40% marks and failed by 60 marks while Susie secured 60% marks and
passed by 40 marks. What is the passing percentage?

total marks is 500

= 500*40%= 200

200+60 = 260 (because Calvin obtained 200 marks and he is failed by 60 marks so he need 60 more marks for getting pass, that's why we added 60 in 200)

260*100/500 = 52%

according to Susie

she got 300 marks

40 marks more than passing so now we less (300-40)= 260

260*100/500 = 52%

hence 52% is passing marks
