The difference in their marks will be 20% of Ganpat's marks

Solution:

Let the Sampat marks be x

Given that,

Total of the marks scored by Sampat and Ganpat was 125% more than Sampat's marks

Therefore,

Total marks scored by Sampat and Ganpat = x + 125 % of x

Total marks scored by Sampat and Ganpat = x + 1.25x

Total marks scored by Sampat and Ganpat = 2.25x

So, Marks scored by Ganpat = 2.25x - x = 1.25x

Difference in their marks = 1.25x - x = 0.25 x

Difference in their marks will be % of Ganpat's marks is:

\rightarrow \frac{0.25x}{1.25x} \times 100 = 20\%\\

Hence the difference in their marks will be 20% of Ganpat's marks
