In a test with 26 questions, five points were deducted for each wrong answer and eight points were added for each correct answer. If all the questions were answered, how many were correctly answered if the score was zero?

Answer:

let us assume

no of correct answers is "x"

As no of questions answered were 26

we get ,

no of wrong amswers is " 26-x "

so by writing the eqiation

8x - 5( 26-x ) = 0

8x - 130+ 5x =0

13x = 130

x = 10 and 26-x = 16

therefore no of corrects is 10 amd no of wrongs is 16..
