Assuming 2500 men to be there.
20 percent increase will be 2500+ 500 ( as 20 percent of 2500 is 500.)
=3000

similarly women population would be 2000.

2000/3000 multiplied by 100

Given:

In a town, there are 2500 men and 2500 women

the population of men increased by 20% and women decreased by 20%.

To Find:

the population of women as a percentage of men now.

Solution:

Population of men is 2500 and it is increased by 20%

20% of 2500 = 20/100 × 2500

= 500

so new population of men is 2500 + 500 = 3000

Population of women is 2500 and it is decreased by 20%

20% of 2500 = 20/100 × 2500

= 500

so new population of men is 2500 - 500 = 2000.

the population of women as a percentage of men now will be

= 2000/3000 × 100

= 200/3 %

= 66.6 %

Hence, the population of women as a percentage of men now will be 66.6%.
