Translatory motion means that an object is moving from one place to another through 3 - dimensional space. Every part of the object will have travelled the same distance. It does not need to move in a straight path.

Straight line motion is called Rectilinear motion and is a kind of Translatory motion. Even curved path motion is included under Translatory motion.
