-GIVEN DATA:One side of a trapezium is 3 times the other .

-the distance between the parallel sides is 12.

-the area of the trapezium is216cm.

-TO PROVE:The length of the parallel sides.

-PROOF:let the one side of a trapezium be 3x

since, area=1/2(sum of parallel sides )x height

=1/2 x( 3x x x )x 12 i.e =6

.: length of parallel sides =3 x 6 =18cm

x=6cm
