Given :-

  • Area of trapezium = 9450 m²

  • Distance between parallel sides = 84 m

To find :-

  • The length of the longer of the parallel sides

Solution :-

Let the length of the parallel side be x and 2x

By using the formula of area of trapezium we know that,

Area of trapezium = ½ × (sum of parallel side) × (Distance between parallel sides)

9450 = ½ × (x + 2x) × 84

9450 = ½ × 3x × 84

9450 = 3x × 42

\rm\cancel\dfrac{9450}{42}=3x

225 = 3x

\rm\cancel\dfrac{225}{3}=x

75 = x

x = 75 m

Length of one side (x) = 75 m

Length of second side = 2x

Length of second side = 2 × 75

Length of second side = 150 m

Hence,the length of the longer of the parallel side will be 150 m.
