Given:

In a Trapezium-shaped field, one of the parallel sides is twice the other.

The area of the field = 9540 m²

The distance between the parallel sides = 84 m

To find:

The length of the longer side among the parallel sides.

Solution:

It is given that among the parallel sides one side is double of the other side.

Let the smaller side be x m.

Therefore the longer side will be 2x m.

Now the area of trapezium can be calculated by using the formula

Area = \frac{h}{2}(x + 2x)

It is given that area = 9540 m² and h = 84 m, using these values in the formula

9540 = 42(3x)

x = 75.71 m

Therefore the length of the longer side = 2 x 75.71

= 151.42 m

the length of the longer of the parallel sides will be 151.42 m.
