Given,

  • Sum of two parallel sides of a trapezium = 20 cm
  • Distance between the parallel sides = 5 cm

To find,

  • The area of the trapezium

Solution,

In a trapezium sum of two parallel sides is 20cm and the distance between them is 5cm, then the area is 50 cm².

We can simply find the area of the trapezium by using the formula of the area of the trapezium,

Area of the trapezium = 1/2 * sum of parallel sides * Distance between them

Area of the trapezium = 1/2 * 20 * 5

                                     = 50 cm²

∴ The area of the trapezium = 50 cm²

Hence, in a trapezium sum of two parallel sides is 20cm and the distance between them is 5cm, then the area is 50 cm².
