Question:

In ∆ABC , if ∠A = 3x , ∠B = 6x and ∠C= x , find the measures of the angles.

Answer:

∠A = 54°

∠B = 108°

∠C = 18°

Solution:

Sum of all angles of a triangle is 180°. ∠A, ∠B and ∠C are the angles of the triangle ABC.

➞ ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

➞ 3x + 6x + x = 180°

➞ ( 3 + 6 + 1 )x = 180°

➞ 10x = 180°

➞ x = 180°/10

➞ x = 18°

∠A = 3x = 3(18°) = 54°

∠B = 6x = 6(18°) = 108°

∠C = x = 18°

Verification:

All angles should add up to 180°

➞ ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

➞ 54° + 108° + 18° = 180°

➞ 180° = 180°

➞ LHS = RHS

hence verified !
