In a triangle ABC, right-angled at C, in which AB = 29 units, BC = 21 units and ∠ABC = Ө. Determine the values of

⇒ AB² = AC² + BC²

⇒ AC² = AB² - BC²

           = (29)² - (21)²

            = 21/29.


∴ sinФ = AC/AB

           = 20/29


(i) cos²Ф + sin²Ф

= (21/29)² + (20/29)²

= (441 + 400)/841

= 1


(ii) cos²Ф - sin²Ф

= (21/29)² - (20/29)²

= (441 - 400)/841

= (41/841)
