in a triangle ABC, X and Y are the points on AB and BC respectively. if BX=1/2AB and BY=1/2BC and AB=BC. show that BX=BY

its simple
given BX=1/2AB =>AB=2BX
ALSO BY =1/2BC =>BC=2BC
AND AB=BC
SO THEREFORE 2BX=2BC
2 will be canceled from both the side
and we get BX = BC

Given,

AB = BC … (i)

And BX = 1/2 AB and BY = 1/2 BC … (ii)

By Euclid’s axiom 7,

<u>We know that things which are halves of the same thing are equal to one another.</u>

From (i) and (ii),

∴ BX = BY
