SOLUTION

GIVEN

In a triangle if angle C is 50° and angle A exceeds angle B by 44°

TO DETERMINE

The angle A

EVALUATION

Here by the given ∠C = 50°

Since angle A exceeds angle B by 44°

So we have ∠A = ∠B + 44°

Since sum of angles = 180°

∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

⇒ ∠B + 44° + ∠B + 50° = 180°

⇒ 2∠B + 94° = 180°

⇒ 2∠B = 86°

⇒ ∠B = 43°

∴ ∠A

= ∠B + 44°

= 43° + 44°

= 87°

FINAL ANSWER

The angle A = 87°
