Given :

  • The length of the first side is 5 cm less than the length of the second side
  • Length of the third side is 7 cm more than the length of the first side if the first side is of length 18 cm

To find :

  • Semi perimeter of the triangle

Knowledge Required :

→ Formula to calculate semi perimeter of triangle = Perimeter ÷ 2 or (a + b + c) ÷ 2

where,

  • a, b and c are the three sides of the triangle.

Solution :

  • Length of First side = 18 cm

Second side :

The length of the first side is 5 cm less than the length of the second side.

→ 18 = second side - 5

→ 18 + 5 = second side

→ 23 = second side

  • Length of second side = 23 cm

Third side :

Length of the third side is 7 cm more than the length of the first side.

→ Third side = 7 + 18

→ Third side = 25 cm

  • Length of third side = 25 cm

Semi perimeter = (a + b + c) ÷ 2

→ Semi perimeter = (18 + 23 + 25) ÷ 2

→ Semi periemter = 66 ÷ 2

→ Semi periemter = 33

Semi perimeter of the triangle = 33 cm
