Given : In a triangleABC, D and E are the points on AB & AC respectively.  AD=2.7cm,DB=13.5cm,AE=3.3cm and EC=16.5cm.

To find:  Show that DE || BC

Solution:

In a triangle ABC, D and E are the points on AB & AC respectively

DE ||  BC

iff   AD/BD  =  AE / CE

AD = 2.7 cm

BD = DB = 13.5  cm

AE = 3.3 cm

CE = EC = 16.5 cm

iff   2.7 / 13.5   = 3.3/16.5

iff   1/5  = 1/5

Which is Equal

Hence DE ||  BC
