Here we know that, BC parallel to DE,

D is the midpoint of AB,

Therefore, AD = DB,

AE = EC = 5 cm.

Now we have to find out BC?

AD/DE = AB/BC

AD/6cm = 2AD/ BC (AD+DB=AB, given),

1/6 = 2/BC

BC= 2×6 = 12cm.

Ans:- AE =5cm , and BC=12 cm.

BC = 12 cm  & AE = 5 cm  if  DE║ BC & D is mid point of side AB  and DE = 6cm & EC = 5 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

in Δ ABC    DE║ BC

=> AD/AB  =  AE/AC = DE/BC

D is mid point of AB

=> AD/AB = 1/2

=> 1/2 = AE/AC = DE/BC

=> BC = 2 * DE

=> BC = 2 * 6

=> BC = 12 cm

AC = 2 * AE

=> AC = AE + EC

=> AE + EC = 2 * AE

=> AE = EC

=> AE = 5 cm
