.In a tug of war, two teams A and B exert forces of 65N, 23N, 85 N and 45N, 16N, 78N respectively. What is the net force acting on the rope?

ANSWER: 34 N the direction of team A

EXPLAINATION: As given in the question the is a match of tug of war going on so the force is applied on two different and opposite direction so the resultant force will be subtraction of both the total forces appplied...

Now

For team A , total force = 65 N + 23 N + 85 N = 173 N

For team B , total force=45 N + 16 N + 78 N = 139 N

So resultant force = |173 N - 139| = "34 N "

also the the force exerted by team A was greater so the displacement will be in Team A direction.....
