let number at unit place and tens place be x and y respectively

According to question

x-y=5     eq i

x+y=9 eq ii

adding equation i and ii we get

2x= 14

x=7 and

putting the value of x in eq ii

y=2

three times the ten's digit=>  3x

=>  3×7 =21
