replacing 2y volume of the mixture with water

volume of syrup=3x-y

"           "     water=x-y+2y=x+y

so 3x-y=x+y    y=x

so from 4x volume 2x volume must be replaced with water

so 1/2 volume of the mixture must be replaced with water
