  • Let the total population be x.
  • Total number of tobacco chewers = 30% of population

                                       =0.3x

  • Total number of tobacco chewers having oral cancer =20% of (0.3x)

                                                                                                  =.06x

80% of oral cancers are tobacco chewers = 0.06x

80% of oral cancers=0.06x

⇒4/5(Number of people with oral cancer)=0.06x

⇒Number of people with oral cancer=0.06x(5/4)

                                                             =.075x

∴Percentage of population having oral cancer=(.075x/x)100

                                                                             =7.5%
