Total number of registered voters = 4400
No. of people who could cast their votes = 63% of 4400
= 63/100 * 4400 = 2772
Valid votes out of this = 2772 - 252 = 2520
As 2 candidates contested and winner won by 10% votes, so winner got 55% and loser got 45% [ only way to allocate this scenario ]
So, 55% of 2520
= 55/100 * 2520 = 1386
therefore winning candidate got 1386 votes.
No. of people who could cast their votes = 63% of 4400
= 63/100 * 4400 = 2772
Valid votes out of this = 2772 - 252 = 2520
As 2 candidates contested and winner won by 10% votes, so winner got 55% and loser got 45% [ only way to allocate this scenario ]
So, 55% of 2520
= 55/100 * 2520 = 1386
therefore winning candidate got 1386 votes.

Total number of registered voters = 4400
No.of people could cast their votes
= 63% of 4400
= 63/100 × 4400 = 63 × 44 =2772
Out of these 252 votes are invalid
Total no.of valid votes
= 2772 - 252 = 2520
Let the winner got x votes and the loser got y votes
Then as per given data
x + y = 2520.............(1)
x - y = 10% of 2520
x - y = 252 .............(2)
(1) + (2)
2x = 2772
x = 1386
The winner got 1386 votes
No.of people could cast their votes
= 63% of 4400
= 63/100 × 4400 = 63 × 44 =2772
Out of these 252 votes are invalid
Total no.of valid votes
= 2772 - 252 = 2520

x = 1386
The winner got 1386 votes
