Answer :
Wavelength of light = 6000Å
Distance b/w slits = 0.4mm
Distance b/w slits and screen = 1.2m
We have to find the separation of fringes or fringe width
★ Fringe width is the distance between two maxima of successive order on one side of the central maxima. This is also equal to distance between two successive minima.
- β = λ D/d
Notice that it is directly proportional to wavelength and inversely proportional to the distance between the two slits.
By substituting the given values,
➝ β = λ D/d
➝ β = (6000×10‾¹⁰)(1.2)/(0.4×10‾³)
➝ β = 18 × 10‾⁴
➝ β = 1.8 mm
