AB = 6 cm, AC = 8 cm and BC = 9 cm

Length of median AD = ?

BD = BC/2 = 9/2

As we know,

AB2 + AC2 = 2(AD2 + BD2)

⇒ 62 + 82 = 2[AD2 + (9/2)2]

⇒ (36 + 64)/2 = AD2 + 81/4

⇒ 100/2 = AD2 + 81/4

⇒ AD2 = 50 - 81/4 = (200 - 81)/4

⇒ AD = √(119/4) = √119/2
