To Find : Possible values of BC

Solution:

AB = 36 cm

AC = 12  cm

BC = x cm   where  x > 0

In a triangle sum of any two sides is greater than third side

Hence

AB + AC  > BC

AB + BC > AC

BC + AC > AB

AB + AC  > BC

=> 36 + 12 > x

=> x < 48

AB + BC > AC

=> 36 + x  >  12

True for all values of x

BC + AC > AB

x + 12 >  36

=> x > 24

From all three

24 < x  < 48

Hence length of BC is in between 24 and 48 cm

x ∈ (24  , 48 )
