Proof:

Here,

hypotenuse = AB

Also, we know that Δabc is isosceles

hence AB = AC                (isosceles Δ has two equal sides)

Using Pythagoras theorem in Δ ABC

AB² = AC² + BC²

AB² = AC² +AC²                      (as AC = BC)

AB² = 2AC².
