in right angle ABC

(x^2)+(75^2)=(85^2)

x^2=7225-4225

x=√3000

x=10√30

in right angle APB

(32^2)+(y^2)=x^2

1024+y^2=3000

y^2=3000-1024

y=√1972

Answer:

X = 40 cm, Y = 24 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

We'll start with the bigger triangle as we have 2 sides

In △ABC,

BC^2 = AC^2 + BA^2

85^2 = 75^2 + BA^2

7225 = 5625 + BA^2

7225 - 5625 = BA^2 => 1600 = BA^2 => BA = √1600 = 40 cm

In △ABP,

BA^2 = BP^2 + PA^2

40^2 = 32^2 + y^2

1600 - 1024 = y^2

576 = y^2 => y = √576 = 24 cm
