Given:

In triangle ABC , angle BAC = angle BCA=45 and angle ABC= 90

To Find:

Value of side AB

Step-by-step explanation:

  • As one of the angles is 90 degrees, it's Right angle triangle during which the opposite two angles are equal. Since ∠BCA=∠BAC

       So,  AB = BC

  • In a triangle, if opposite angles are equal then opposite sides of a triangle are also equal.
  • By applying the Pythagoras theorem square of the hypotenuse side is adequate to the sum of squares of the other two sides of triangle

        AC^2=AB^2+BC^2

        AC^2=AB^2+AB^2       [AB is Equal to BC]

        AC^2=2AB^2

        AC=\sqrt{2} AB\\\\\AB=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} } AC

  • So, the length of side AB is \frac{1}{\sqrt{2} } of side AC
