To find : Ratio of AE : CE = ?

Solution :

Since DE is parallel to BC,

So, using "Basic proportionality theorem" , we get that :

$\dfrac{AD}{BD}=\dfrac{AE}{CE}\\\\\dfrac{4}{8}=\dfrac{AE}{CE}\\\\\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{AE}{CE}$

So, Ratio of AE : CE is 1 :2.
