In ∆ABC (Fig. 4.59), if ∠1 = ∠2, prove that AB/AC=BD/DC.

SOLUTION :

Given : In ΔABC, if ∠1 = ∠2

To prove : AB/AC = BD/DC

PROOF :  

In  ΔABC,

∠1 = ∠2

So, AD is the bisector of ∠A

Therefore,

AB/AC = BD/DC

[The internal bisector of an angle of a triangle divides the opposite side internally in the ratio of the sides containing the angle]
