Given : In ABC given that A(7, -3), B(5, 3) and C(3, -1),

To Find :   the equation of line passing through A which is parallel to BC

Solution:

B(5, 3) and C(3, -1),

Slope of BC =  ( -1 - 3) / ( 3 - 5)

= (-4 / -2)

= 2

Slope of parallel lines are equal

Hence slope of line passing through A which is parallel to BC  is 2

Equation of line with slope 2 passing through  A(7, -3)

y - (-3)  = 2 ( x - 7)

y + 3 = 2x - 14

=> y  = 2x - 17

y  = 2x - 17 is   the equation of line passing through A which is parallel to BC
