Using angle sum property in △ABC

∠A+∠B+∠C=180°

⇒50°+60° +∠C=180°

⇒∠C=70°

In any triangle side opposite to the largest angle is the longest side.

Here ∠C is largest and side opposite to it is AB

∴AB is the longest side.

Then comes ∠B and side opposite to it is AC

∴AC is the second longest side.

Then comes ∠A and side opposite to it is AC

∴BC is the shortest side.

So the increasing order of sides is

BC<AC<AB

Solution :-

given that, in ∆ABC,

→ ∠A = 40°

→ ∠B = 50°

So,

→ ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

→ 40° + 50° + ∠C = 180°

→ 90° + ∠C = 180°

→ ∠C = 90°

since ∠C is a right angle , therefore, ∆ABC is a right angled ∆ .

Now, we know that,

  • Side opposite to larger angle is greater in measure .
  • In right angle ∆ , hypotenuse is opposite to 90° and longest side .

therefore,

→ Smallest side = Opposite to ∠A (40°) = BC

→ Smaller side = Opposite to ∠B (50°) = AC

→ Longest side = Opposite to ∠C (90°) = AB

hence,

→ Sides of ∆ABC in ascending order will be = BC < AC < AB .
