In triangle in △ ABC, by Pythagoras theorem

AC^2 =AB^2 +AC^2

Given, AB=5 cm, BC=x

5^2 =x^2 +3^2

x = 5^2 −3^2 =25−9=16

x =  \sqrt{16}  = 4

Hence, AB=4 cm.

Or

Simply after constructing, we can measure AB side.
