In ABC, segment AP is a median. If BC=18, AB^2+ AC^2=260. Find AP.

Is there any way to solve it without using the 'APPOLONIUS THEOREM'

Answer:

I think no.

There is no other way .

If it will equilateral triangle then , we can apply pythagoras theorem to find AP median .

Thank you!!

Hope u understood! !

we have to use Pythagoras theorem to proved it but at first we use prove this a equalteral triangle

  • angle ABP and angel ACP
  • P =P (COMMON)
  • ANGLE APB =ANGLE CPA (90 degree each)
  • BY AA SIMILARITIES
  • TRIANGLE ABP = TRIANGLE ACP

TRIANGLE ABP+TRIANGLE ACP =360 DEGREE

  • AB =AC (130 DEGREE each)
  • AB +AC+BC=360
  • 130 +130+BC=360
  • 260+BC=360
  • BC=360 - 260
  • BC= 100 SOLVED
