In ABCD is a square and the area of the right-angled
triangle AED is 16 sq cm. Find the area of the shaded portion.

Area of shaded region =3*Area of triangleAED

=3*16

=48 sq.cm

Answer: area of triangle =1/2 ×b×h

1/2×2x×x =16

x=root 16

x=4

2x =2×4=8

×^2+2x^2=AD^2

16+64=AD^2

80 =AD^2

AD= root 80

AD=4root5

area of square =4 root5 ×4 root5

area of square=80cm

area of shaded portion=area of square - area of triangle

area of shaded portion=80 -16

=64cmsq
